About Fetch an Idea

A small tool for the exact moment a kid says "I'm bored" and your brain goes blank.

Fetch an Idea started from a familiar problem: it's 4pm, the weather has ruled out half your usual plans, and you need an idea that doesn't involve handing over a screen. Searching "activities for kids" usually turns up either a giant list with no way to narrow it down, or a single Pinterest craft that needs supplies you don't have.

So this site does one small thing well: you tell it what the day looks like and roughly how old your kid is, and it hands you one specific idea you can start in the next five minutes.

How the ideas are chosen

Every activity in the tool is picked with three questions in mind: can most families do this with things already in the house, does it take under 45 minutes, and is it actually fun rather than just "educational-sounding"? Ideas are grouped by weather (sunny, rainy, cloudy, snowy, or staying in) and tagged with a rough age range, so a 2-year-old and a 9-year-old don't get the same suggestion.
